    Accounting Officer in the Finance Unit   [RF: 2024/25-FT-265-JDB]

     

    Duties:  The appointee will assist the Finance Manager in performing the accounting and finance functions in order to ensure smooth operation of such functions in daily activities and to provide efficient and effective professional services in maintaining the authorized employer status and supporting a number of committees.  The main duties include but are not limited to the followings: -

     

    • Perform daily accounting routines including insurance enquiries and provide information required by the insurers from time to time, annual insurance renewal, liaison with insurance brokers and the University’s Finance Office, insurance claims and reports;
    • Maintain the authorized employer status granted by the professional accountancy bodies, namely ACCA and HKICPA, as well as dealing with practical working experience matters and training matters;
    • Assist in the preparation of Forecasts and 3-Year Financial Plan for academic and/or administrative units regarding staff allocation, financial analyses/reports, memoranda and papers;
    • Maintain the Finance calendar, authorisation limit and confidential finance documents;
    • Coordinate with various units, organise meetings, and support the preparation of agenda, minutes and papers of Finance Working Group meetings, Finance Committee meetings and Investment Sub-Committee meetings;
    • Assist in dealing with staff matters of the Finance Unit and preparing analyses;
    • Undertake ad hoc tasks as assigned by supervisors and team leader.

     

    Requirements:  Candidates should possess an Associate Degree or a Higher Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines and obtained Level 2/Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) or equivalent. They should have at least 6 years of relevant working experience in accounting, financial analysis and budgetary control. They should be proficient in accounting applications, with working knowledge of HKFRS and good computer skills including Microsoft Office advanced spreadsheets and word processing.  Previous hands-on experience in Oracle financial system will be an advantage.  They should also possess strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, good written and spoken English and Chinese, and the ability to work well under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

     

    Terms of Appointment: Salary placement will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The contract will normally be for 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to review.  A contract-end gratuity (taxable) will be payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract.  Medical and dental benefits, 18 days’ annual leave and the use of library facilities will be provided where applicable.
