    College Lecturer / College Assistant Lecturer (Social Sciences) in the Community College   [RF: 2024/25-FT-270-JDB]

     

    Duties:            Tenable from September 2025, the appointees will deliver quality teaching to students in general education or specialised courses for one of the following areas:

    1. Culture and Media 
    2. Social Welfare, Social Policy and/or Psychology
    3. Geography and/or Area Studies

    The appointees will be required to perform a range of academic duties in respect of teaching, course/programme coordination, student recruitment, course/programme development, enhancement of pedagogies, and academic quality assurance.

    Requirements:  Candidates should have a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (a doctorate and registration as a social worker would be an added advantage) with 2 years’ teaching experience, preferably at the tertiary level and with experience in course development/administration. Ability to collaborate with a team is essential. Candidates must be proficient in English. Those with interdisciplinary backgrounds will be an added advantage.

    Candidates with less qualifications or experience will be considered for the grade of College Assistant Lecturer.

    Terms of Appointment: Salary placement will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The contract will normally be for 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to review. A contract-end gratuity (taxable) will be payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Medical and dental benefits, 18 days’ annual leave and the use of library facilities will be provided where applicable. The School also provides staff development opportunities.
