- Organisation of induction training for new teachers;
- Organisation of professional workshops, seminars and conferences on teaching and learning for the School, higher institutions and the public;
- Liaison with local learning support centres and overseas institutions in exchanging updated information on developments of learning pedagogy;
- Collaboration with HKU, HKU SPACE and its e-Learning Team and Committee to expedite development of technology supported learning such as MOOCs and SPOCs, and in particular, application of AI;
- Provision of advice to teachers and the School Director on matters pertaining to teaching and learning, news and developments in education theory and sharing of new learning pedagogies and teaching tools with teachers;
- Collaboration with HKU on initiatives for HKU SPACE teachers to attend CETL workshops on teaching and learning;
- Collaboration with other units in HKU and HKU SPACE to enhance assurance mechanism of programme quality and student learning experience;
- Organisation of references and support measures to enhance evidence-based learning, outcomes-based learning, assessment rubrics etc. for HKU SPACE;
- Administration of the HEA Fellowship Programme, administration of the Programme Outcomes Assessment Scheme and the organisation of the School’s Biennial International Conference;
- Any other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Senior Programme Director II / Programme Director in the Maisy Ho Centre for Teaching and Learning [RF: 2024/25-FT-365-JDB]
Duties: The appointee will head the Maisy Ho Centre for Teaching and Learning. He/She will be responsible for the strategic development and management of the Centre and provision of academic leadership in the development of learning and teaching pedagogies for HKU SPACE. The scope of duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: -
Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of Programme Director.
Requirements: Candidates should have at least a Master’s degree with 15 years relevant experience in tertiary education, developments in modern education, learning theory and pedagogy best practices. A doctorate degree is preferrable. They should possess demonstrated knowledge of tertiary education in Hong Kong, developments in modern education and use of technology for multimodal learning, demonstrated scholarship in learning theory and pedagogy and best practices as well as experience in the provision of teacher workshops, curriculum development and development of teaching and learning pedagogies in tertiary education. Strong leadership and supervisory skills, capability to manage resources effectively, strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) are required.
Terms of Appointment: Salary placement will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The contract will normally be for 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to review. A contract-end gratuity (taxable) will be payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Medical and dental benefits, 22 days’ annual leave and the use of library facilities will be provided where applicable. The School also provides staff development opportunities.
