Laboratory Assistant in the Community College [RF: 2026/27-FT-032-JDB]
Duties: The appointee will assist in the daily operation of the science laboratories in the College. He/She will be required to complete assigned tasks in lab preparation, assist with the safe conduct of lab practicals, and handle the maintenance, inventory and storage of laboratory equipment and consumables. The appointee will also be responsible for maintaining lab cleanliness and tidiness, assisting with the disposal of waste materials and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisors.
Requirements: Candidates should possess a Higher Diploma or an Associate Degree in science-related area. Preference will be given to those with one year’s relevant working experience and/or post-secondary education in general science disciplines or equivalent. They should possess good communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in written and spoken English and Cantonese. Candidates should have the ability to work well under supervision and demonstrate energy and enthusiasm for hard work during peak times. Shift duties during weekdays/weekends will be required.
Terms of Appointment: Salary placement will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The contract will normally be for 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to review. A contract-end gratuity (taxable) will be payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Medical and dental benefits, 18 days’ annual leave and the use of library facilities will be provided where applicable. The School also provides staff development opportunities.
