    Senior Software Developer (in the grade of Assistant Computer Officer I) in the Information Technology Services Unit   [RF: 2026/27-FT-007-JDB]

    Duties:

    The appointee will participate in the design, development, implementation, integration, enhancement and maintenance of academic and administrative systems to support the School's digital transformation initiatives. Responsibilities include requirement gathering, system analysis and design, software development, testing, deployment, documentation, end-user training, production support and project coordination.

    The successful candidate will have opportunities to contribute to large-scale systems and innovative technology projects, including:

    · Student and Course Record Systems, admission and enrolment systems, and online payment services;

    · Web and mobile application development, enterprise system integration and process automation;

    · AI-enabled solutions, Generative AI applications, AI assistants/agents, chatbots and workflow automation;

    · Modernisation of legacy applications and integration with cloud and enterprise platforms; and

    · Technical evaluation of new tools and emerging technologies to enhance service quality, operational efficiency and user experience.

    The post offers an opportunity to join the Information Technology Services Unit in driving system modernisation and AI-enabled innovation across the School. The appointee may be involved in projects related to enterprise applications, digital services, workflow automation, Generative AI and next-generation user experience initiatives.

    Requirements:

    · A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline, with at least four years' relevant post-qualification experience in software development and system implementation;

    · Solid hands-on experience in one or more of the following technologies: PHP, Java, JavaScript / TypeScript, Python, React JS, Redux, jQuery and RESTful API development;

    · Experience in web application development, system integration, software testing, technical documentation and production support;

    · Experience in relational database technologies such as Oracle and MySQL / MariaDB;

    · Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC), version control, DevOps practices and deployment methodologies;

    · Good analytical, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills; and

    · Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

    The following will be a strong advantage:

    · Experience in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, student information systems, learning platforms, or projects in the tertiary education sector;

    · Experience in web frameworks and modern development tools such as Django, Symfony, Node.js, Docker and Kubernetes;

    · Hands-on experience in using AI tools and emerging technologies to improve software development, testing, documentation, system support and operational efficiency;

    · Experience in developing AI-powered applications, Generative AI solutions, AI chatbots, AI assistants/agents, prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) or LLM-based applications;

    · Knowledge of cloud platforms and AI services, including Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI or similar enterprise AI platforms; and

    · Knowledge of Google Gemini Enterprise API development, integration or related application development will be a distinct advantage.

    Terms of Appointment: Salary placement will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The contract will normally be for 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to review. A contract-end gratuity (taxable) will be payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Medical and dental benefits, 18 days’ annual leave and the use of library facilities will be provided where applicable. The School also provides staff development opportunities.
