The appointee will lead the AI Development Team in driving the design, development, integration and implementation of AI-enabled solutions, enterprise applications and digital platforms across the School. The role is expected to provide both technical leadership and project management support for AI development initiatives, with a strong focus on integrating AI capabilities into ERP systems, web applications, e-learning platforms and institutional services. Major responsibilities include:
· Lead the planning, design, development, implementation and continuous enhancement of the School's AI-enabled systems, digital platforms and application services;
· Drive technical solution design and system integration across ERP platforms, web applications, portals, APIs and e-learning platforms such as Moodle (SOUL);
· Lead the evaluation, development and adoption of AI, machine learning and Generative AI solutions to improve operational efficiency, user experience, teaching and learning support, workflow automation and institutional services;
· Oversee the architecture, development standards, technical quality, testing, security, deployment and maintainability of solutions delivered by the AI Development Team;
· Manage the full solution lifecycle, including business requirement analysis, stakeholder engagement, project planning, vendor coordination, system integration, testing, rollout, training, documentation and post-implementation support;
· Work closely with the School's AI Transformation Team, IT teams, academic and administrative units, and external vendors to identify use cases and translate business and academic needs into practical technical solutions;
· Lead and mentor technical staff in modern software engineering practices, AI application development, cloud integration, API design, DevOps and continuous improvement; and
· Support governance, responsible AI adoption, data protection, risk management and solution review processes for AI-related initiatives across the School.
Requirements:
· A bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or related disciplines;
· At least 10 years' relevant post-qualification experience in software development, application architecture, system integration, solution delivery or IT management, preferably in higher education or large-scale institutional environments;
· Strong hands-on experience in enterprise application development, system integration and technical solution delivery across ERP systems, web applications, APIs and digital platforms;
· Strong and practical knowledge of AI, machine learning and Generative AI technologies, with proven experience in designing, implementing or integrating AI-enabled solutions for business, operational or academic use cases;
· Strong technical knowledge of AI development frameworks, LLM-based application design, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI agents, chatbot development, workflow automation and model/service integration;
· Strong hands-on knowledge of cloud and AI platforms, such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Vertex AI, Microsoft Azure, Azure OpenAI, or equivalent enterprise AI platforms;
· Hands-on experience in API design and integration, middleware, data exchange, authentication and interoperability across enterprise platforms;
· Proven experience in full software development lifecycle management, including system analysis, application design, coding oversight, testing, deployment, DevOps, technical documentation and production support;
· Experience in modern development frameworks and tools such as Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, React, Node.js, RESTful APIs, Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD;
· Solid understanding of relational databases, application architecture, scalability, security, and modern software engineering practices;
· Experience in leading technical teams, mentoring developers, managing vendors and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders;
· Strong project management, analytical, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills; and
· Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
The post offers an opportunity to lead the School's AI Development Team in shaping the next phase of AI-enabled digital transformation. The appointee will play a key role in delivering practical and scalable AI solutions, integrating AI with ERP, web and e-learning platforms, and establishing strong technical direction for institutional AI development and innovation.
The following will be a strong advantage:
· Proven experience in integrating AI capabilities into ERP systems, web applications, customer-facing digital services, workflow platforms or e-learning platforms such as Moodle (SOUL);
· Strong experience in Google Gemini Enterprise, Google Gemini APIs, Vertex AI, AI agent development, prompt orchestration, enterprise AI integration or related Generative AI application development;
· Experience in leading AI development or digital transformation initiatives in higher education, including support for teaching and learning, academic services or institutional operations;
· Knowledge of responsible AI, AI governance, data privacy, cybersecurity and risk management considerations in enterprise AI implementation; and
· Experience in presenting technical strategies and solution proposals to management, academic stakeholders and non-technical users.
Terms of Appointment: Salary placement will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The contract will normally be for 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to review. A contract-end gratuity (taxable) will be payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Medical and dental benefits, 18 days’ annual leave and the use of library facilities will be provided where applicable. The School also provides staff development opportunities.
