    Assistant IT Manager (in the grade of Computer Officer II) in the Information Technology Services Unit   [RF: 2026/27-FT-043-JDB]

     

    Duties:

    The appointee will assist the IT Manager in leading the Platform Team and overseeing the daily operation, enhancement, and support of the School's Learning Platforms, including SOUL, the School's Learning Management System built on Moodle, and the SOUL Mobile App. Key responsibilities include:

    • Managing the development, maintenance, enhancement, and integration of e-learning and digital learning platforms to support teaching and learning activities across the School.
    • Leading and coordinating system implementation, upgrades, testing, and deployment activities, while ensuring service quality, availability, security, and scalability.
    • Supporting the adoption and integration of AI technologies into teaching, learning, and administrative processes, and collaborating with academic and administrative units to develop AI-enabled solutions and innovative learning experiences.
    • Providing second-tier technical support and troubleshooting for complex system issues, and coordinating with internal IT teams, vendors, and external service providers to resolve incidents and implement enhancements.
    • Managing project activities, including requirements gathering, solution design, resource planning, vendor coordination, budget monitoring, and project delivery.
    • Ensuring compliance with IT governance, cybersecurity, data protection, and system administration standards.
    • Supervising and mentoring team members, and contributing to the continuous improvement of team processes, services, and technical capabilities.
    • Supporting the planning and implementation of digital transformation, educational technology, and AI-related initiatives undertaken by the School.
    • Undertaking administrative duties and other responsibilities as assigned.

     

    Requirements:

    • Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 7 years of relevant post-qualification experience, including a minimum of 5 years of experience in the development, implementation, or management of e-learning systems and services.
    • The successful candidate should have proven experience in project delivery, team supervision, system implementation, and stakeholder coordination. Experience in managing Learning Management Systems, particularly Moodle or equivalent platforms, and supporting technology-enhanced learning services will be an advantage.
    • Strong technical knowledge of system development, application integration, cloud platforms, web technologies, and mobile applications is required. Experience in AI technologies, learning analytics, chatbot development, or AI-enabled teaching and learning solutions will be highly desirable.
    • Candidates should possess strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with academic, administrative, and technical stakeholders. Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and Chinese are essential.
    • Experience in the higher education sector and familiarity with e-learning platforms, educational technologies, and digital transformation projects will be a distinct advantage.
    • Candidates should be self-motivated, proactive, customer-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

     

    Terms of Appointment: Salary placement will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The contract will normally be for 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to review. A contract-end gratuity (taxable) will be payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Medical and dental benefits, 18 days’ annual leave and the use of library facilities will be provided where applicable. The School also provides staff development opportunities.
