Part-time Teacher (Applied Learning Chinese) in the College of Humanities and Law

Duties: The appointees will teach the Applied Learning Chinese course. This course is designed specifically for non-Chinese-speaking students and aims to enhance their ability to use Chinese in daily life and industry-related contexts. Students will learn core language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and develop the Chinese communication skills required in different workplace settings, such as serving customers, writing work reports, and understanding policy documents. The course also emphasizes cultural literacy, interpersonal communication, and professional expression, helping students pursue further studies and employment.
Requirements: Candidates must (i) hold a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Chinese Language, or possess equivalent qualifications (please attach results in Chinese Language in public examinations), preferably with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE); (ii) be fluent in Cantonese and familiar with writing Traditional Chinese characters. Knowledge of Jyutping is an advantage; (iii) have at least 1 year of experience in teaching Chinese to non-Chinese-speaking students, or in conducting research related to Chinese language teaching for non-Chinese-speaking students.
